Polyisocyanurate insulation is a thermoset plastic that is usually manufactured in foam form and used as rigid thermal insulation. Polyisocyanurate is available in bunstock or fabricated into sheets or pipe shells specifically for insulation needs located in non-plenum areas.
Pipe insulation in non-plenum areas often has requirements to have a Flame Spread Index of 25 or less and a Smoke Developed Index of 450 or less when tested as per ASTM E84. Polyisocyanurate usually meets these requirements, making it a valuable insulation solution in industrial settings.
Polyisocyanurate insulation in Canada can be used in other various applications including core material for architectural, structural panels, and factory built panelized constructions. Polyisocyanurate can also be used as insulation for shipping containers, trucks, railcars, tanks, and vessels as well as flat or tapered board stock for roof insulation.
