Anti-corrosion gels are non-drying compounds applied to new pipes, fittings, valves, tanks and vessels with the purpose of mitigating and preventing corrosion under insulation (CUI). They are products made with materials such as titanium dioxide that can be applied via spray, glove, or brush.
A well-known anti-corrosion gel is Polyguard RG-2400®, which utilizes the company’s mineralization technology. Polyguards anti-corrosion gel replaces the corrosion process with a mineral formation on and into the metal surface to create a mineral barrier 50-200 angstroms thick. The RG-2400 anti-corrosion gel is engineered to passivate water vapor and repel water. It is designed to be used in the insulation industry, specifically under insulation for new piping systems, tanks, and vessels.
The RG-2400 anti-corrosion gel requires minimal surface preparation such as making sure there are no oils, dirt, or rust present on the piping.
